Will the Weather Stay Dry For Awhile?

Yesterday, I picked up a few items at Travco as they only carry a few items in stock otherwise it is necessary to to order them and there is no guarantee that the products listed on their online catalog will be available.  So I spent over $200 on fibered RV rooftop coating, 8 feet of Dicor Sealant Tape, a roll of putty, and a LED light fixture and trim piece.  I then stopped at Canadian Tire and picked up a litre of 10w30 oil and a 12 volt hand held vacuum cleaner before dropping by the RV.

I proceeded to clean up the dust and small scraps of rotted wood with the vacuum cleaner before going out and to apply duct tape to the corner (a temporary fix - due to the weather) where I removed the trim and cleaned up the exposed fiberglass panels.  Since the leak is only on this corner I will fix this area only in the interim and then once I am satisfied that my repair job here is successful I will then turn my attention to removing and cleaning up the rest of the trim pieces as well as the exposed corners so the RV is clean and resealed with a new coat of putty and caulking and is left with a cleaner fresher look.

I also installed the new light fixture yesterday and it looks good and light is so much cleaner than the old incandescent light fixtures.  I will get three more at some point and probably sooner rather than later so I can have them matching as I took the last one on the shelf.  I hope the folks at Travco can get more or oops - what will I do now?

I installed the fixture with a trim piece but I do not like the look so I will clean up the roof and install the fixtures without this trim piece and this is all well and good as they are sold separately and the trim piece alone is $10.  The light fixture itself was $50 and that I think is plenty to be spending on a light fixture that may rarely get used.  One good thing I noticed when installing the new fixture is that it allowed me to see above the ceiling and have a look at the roof rafter and happily notice that the one I was looking at is completely dry and looks like it is a fresh piece of wood - whew, am I ever glad the roof is not leaking anywhere else as far as I can tell.

Today, I broke down and picked up a tarp to cover the RV with and of course what happens - rain starts falling.  I was hoping the day would stay dry long enough for me to throw the tarp over the RV - gee whiz!  Can I get a little break here, please!

I also grabbed 10 cabinet door handles to replace the old ones with as they have a more rustic look that I am after.  I also grabbed a few paint card samples as I want to remove the cabinet doors and started apply the wall paper border to them but I will need to paint around the edge of the doors as the border is just a little narrow than the door.  Luckily though, it looks like I may be able to match up the paint with the edge of the wallpaper border fairly well and achieve a nice clean look to the door.

I called Travco as well as I wanted to order a roll of this waterproof repair tape but lo and behold it has been discontinued and is no longer available, wouldn't you know it so I ordered a couple of packages Quick Roof Patch that is fairly similar so at least I can accomplish a little bit of what I wanted to do!

It really does pay to be flexible and adaptable to the products that are available when one is trying to accomplish a really important project such as repairing a leaky RV.

As I am writing this I am also looking at a the few pages I printed from Travco's online catalog and noticed and noticed another item that will work for me so I called Travco to see if it is available to be ordered but Louise the person I have been dealing with is not available so I left a message and will wait to here back from her on the availability of this product - Plas-T-Cote Patching Tape by Elixir Industries.

If the weather is somewhat dry I will attempt to spend a day or as much of my work day working on the RV and I only have a few days left by myself so I can only hope for drier days ahead.  If I can't get to the repairs this week I will at the very least attempt cover the RV with the tarp and then at least I can rest easy knowing that the RV will remain dry until I get time to give it a full days attention.

Thanks again for stopping by. . .
