Yesterday, I drove the car to work as I was working by myself and during the morning drive a moment maybe even seconds came along where I was not driving the car but rather the RV down Canada Way. As soon as I realized I was no longer in the car but my RV the image disappeared as quickly as it came. This image is similar to others that I am having of me driving or sitting or walking about or around the RV and the frequency at which I am having these little glimpses into what I deem to be the future is increasing. The other evening I was walking to the bathroom in the condo and I thought and an ensuing image followed of me doing the same in the RV. As I read the blogs and read about certain highways or places that these bloggers visit I see myself driving down that or another highway and visiting the same or some other destination.
My faith is secure in that I will be living in an RV, my RV in the very near future. June feels like a month where things will come together for me to make the move into the RV. June 2010 feels like a very significant month for me.
One idea that is on my mind quite frequently is the image of me setting up camp near railway lines more often than not. I see myself comfortably camped by a railway whether it be in the wilderness so-to-speak or in an industrial area of a town or city or a railway siding along a country road. I do not see myself as being disturbed by trains going by whether it be during the day or in the wee hours of the morning and I do not see my sleep being interrupted one bit by this. I find this somewhat perplexing considering that I have been sleeping with earplugs in my ears for over ten years but I will just let the image take its place in my mind whenever it wants to and accept it being there for a reason yet to be revealed to me.
I am reading a book titled “Managing 12 Volts” and the surprising thing about this is that I understand it fairly well. This is a bit surprising to me as the last time I tried reading this book it was like I was reading a book written in a foreign language. This is a good/positive sign that I am moving in the right direction with my life and I will keep at ‘er so I can be well educated in the knowledge needed to be successful at RVing on a full-time basis.
Changing the subject just a wee bit here I would like to say and am happy to report that last week when going to bed on two different evenings I fell asleep before putting my earplugs in and I slept rather well without them. The first night I woke up at 1:00AM and put the earplugs in and slept well until the alarm. The second time this happened I did not wake up until 3:00AM at which time I put the earplugs in and slept well until the alarm. This is a great experience for me as I have sleeping using earplugs for over ten years now. What this experience reveals to me is that I will be able to sleep without earplugs and this is exactly what I want and plan to do during my RVing adventure. I want to fall asleep to the sounds of Nature, the rustling of leaves, the pitter-patter of rain on the roof or the lonesome cry of the wolf.
The other book I am reading and understanding very well is “The Complete Book of Boondock RVing”. I am reading this book as well as the other one so that I am using my time more productively in my effort to become a full-time RVer. I am making time to invest in my future so that I am in control of it more than allowing myself to be controlled or led around by other people’s ideas of what life is about and how we are supposed to be living it. Each to their own!
My decision to redecorate the RV is has not changed but the colour choices I made previously have. I really like the look of the faux wood paneling wallpaper and hope to find some so I can cover the walls of the RV with it and give my RV a rustic cabin kind of feel and look. The green wallpaper is close to what I chose before and the silver faux wood paneling wallpaper although different than the cottage white I was planning to use will also work for me. I also chose a burgundy maybe wine colour and think I can incorporate that with this type of colour scheme as well so all is good from where I come from so onward we march. I will use the “chianti” as an accent colour by using it on cushions and other things to add an extra splash of colour to the RV. Cool!
The photo on the left shows the wallpaper that I am interested in redecorating the RV with. The border with the caribou or elk is not what I will use as I saw another one at Home Depot that I liked and purchased. This image is from the Wallpaper Store. I plan to use the border not as a border but as a covering for a few of the doors on the overhead cabinets as a way of adding a certain feel - that rustic charm of a cabin to the RV.
Everything is coming together quite well. As I mentioned I am using my time wisely through doing research and putting together ideas in my mind and on paper so that I can work out exactly what I need to do before I embark upon my RVing adventure as well as to have sufficiently paid down my debt to a more manageable and comfortable level so that I have no fear or worries about finances while running Canada and the US in my little old RV.
I am making cards, finishing cards, and spool-knitting so that I have products to sell while meandering down the roads at a snail's pace enjoying all the sights and sounds that so many of us never get to see or take notice of because we are in a rush to get from "here" to "there" and what is in between is never all that important for us to see. Well no longer is that the case for me. I will take my lead from George and Brian and travel slowly but surely down the highway traveling maybe only a few miles/kilometres down the road in a single day.
Life is good when you stop to smell the roses.
