More of This n That

Since we have picked up everything we think we need to complete the repairs on the RV we will soon be putting them to use.  Unfortunately, not everything on our list was available so we had to find good alternatives and we hope they will work just as well if not better than our original ideas.

Last night, I was dreaming about making the repairs to the RV.  I am glad that my dreams are helping us plan the most effective way to make these necessary repairs.  We will complete the one side for now and get that behind us before tackling the rest of the front end of the bed-over-cab area as I think it best to reseal the entire front of the RV.  This way it is done to our liking and if it leaks then we know we did not do a good job and have no one to blame but ourselves.

We have a few things to do as we move forward and I think that as we repair the front and then wait for things to dry and what not we will go about cleaning the RV starting with the bathroom and follow that with the bedroom and lounge area before tackling the kitchen and dinette area leaving then the bed-over-cab area until the very end as that will involve refinishing it and enjoying the new look of the RV once it is complete.

We need to actually pick up a few things now that I think about it so we can actually tie the new and old pieces of wood together as well as tie the new wood to the base of the bed-over-cab area.  I will find some metal strapping and short small screws to fasten the strapping to the wood.  Some construction adhesive will also be necessary I do think.  We then need to clean up the piece of paneling I peeled off and broke into pieces so we can reuse it and then fill in any minor defects with wood filler or epoxy.  All in all I think that this repair is an easy and minor one to to take care of as it could be a lot worse.

One other area of concern I may have mentioned before is around the rear passenger side wheel well where the wood is soft but not totally rotten.  If I have enough Liquid Wood left or even if I need to order more we will tackle this area at some point in the future as is it is secure enough to leave alone for the short term I think.  But then again we might be able to get to it sooner so we shall see how it all works out.

If the weather remains rather nice like it is we should be able to get in a couple of hours of work every night after my work day in late August and a good days work three out four weekend days so the work we need to do should be be easily completed during this time as Eugene and for that matter Edith are quite eager to help me get these repairs completed so I am confident that the three of us should take care of this in very short order.  I think the only delays we will experience are the waiting times for things to dry such as the LiquidWood, 24 hours and the wood epoxy, also about 24 hours and maybe the weather, if it decides to rain.  Otherwise, I think it will be a rather quick exercise as I am primarily focusing on the front half of the RV so cleaning and repairing are not as overwhelming as they could be if we were to tackle the RV in its entirety.
