Tardy Blogging

Wow!  So many days have passed by since my last post.  My apologies for being so tardy.

The weekend was very pleasant as we enjoyed lunch with some friends on Saturday afternoon and followed that up with the symphony in the evening.  I will get the details on what the Vancouver Symphony played and edit this post to include that information.  Sunday was a fairly lazy day but enjoyable.

The week started off with a bang quite literally as just as I was getting close to my day job I was involved in an accident.  As I was approaching an intersection in the right-hand lane the light changed from red to green so I started to accelerate when I was maybe 20 metres from the intersection.  No sooner had I done that when a driver pulled into my lane to get around another driver turning left.  He failed to check my lane before changing lanes and ran into the front driver's side fender of my car.  When he approached me after we stopped and exited our respective vehicles he was motioning with his arms "what happened?"  I'm sure if I was responded right away or he did but he claimed I hit him.  I remember replying with a "no, I rather think you changed lanes into me."  I called up the insurance company to file a claim and have an appointment to get the car repaired on Monday, June 7th.  They will have it repaired in about four days.

The day job has been quiet so I have used the time to take care of some of my stuff as my co-worker is on holidays for three weeks.  He comes back on June 21st.  I hope to start and get finished a few repairs to the RV as I am more anxious now after visiting the RV yesterday as a lot of water is seeping into the Bed over cab area and the wood is damp and turning black.  The leak is new and I think it started after I had the RV washed and detailed last year.  I am up to the task I do believe as I think I can reuse all the trim and vinyl inserts as it washes up quite nicely.  The only thing I will do is to buy stainless steel screws to reattach the molding as the old screws are very rusty and should be replaced.  I will likely go up one size for the new screws to ensure and tighter and more secure attachment of the molding.

The only hang up now is the weather and so I patiently wait for it to stop raining so I can at least start the repairs and get them under wayWhen I visit Travco to get the needed supplies I will include a tarp with my purchase as the weather does not appear to want to remain dry for too long these days so I will need to cover the RV if the weather is less than ideal.  I will wash the RV top to bottom and end to end and then wash each area where I remove trim and vent covers and what not to get rid of any remaining dirt and grimeDepending on how quickly all this goes I will then proceed on the same day to apply the Plas-T-Cote Fibered CoatingDepending on the directions and recommendations one coat may be sufficient but I will know more after purchasing the product and will of course update the blog regarding this project so all in good time we shall all learn what is required and how success I am in stopping the leaks and putting everything back together.

I am nervous and excited about this so I somewhat look forward and am a little apprehensive about it at the same time so wish me luck. . .

When I visited the RV yesterday I really felt quite at home and remembered my desires to be in the RV during the weekend.  As each day passes the RV is more and more attractive and feels more like home than the condo does these days.  It's not that I am unhappy where I am or with my living arrangements but my desire to travel and live in an RV is growing stronger the closer it is to becoming a reality.

I love my life as it is now but I also know that I need to spread my wings for awhile and see what the world at least far as North America is concerned has to offer.  Reading blogs and magazines about the RV lifestyle really encourage me to pursue this lifestyle and so it is that I must follow my dreams and my heart and start life on the highway and parts unknown. . .

Until next time. . .
