Friday, June 11, 2010 - A Good Day!

Well all of the deliveries and pick-ups I planned on Friday, June 11, 2010 were accomplished.  The LiquidWood and WoodEpox arrived from V I Color Mart, the USB cable, earphones, microphone and wrist strap for my Olympus Voice Recorder also arrived.  As time slowly ticked by I picked up some caulking, a caulking gun, acetone, and a couple of paint brushes from Home Depot.  Tomorrow I will visit the RV and do some prep work so I can apply the LiquidWood to the area of concern to get that project underway.  The weather as far as I can tell from the forecast on the Weather Network is to remain dry for the next several days if not more.

If I feel good I may very well end up removing some of the trim and molding to have a better look at the magnitude of the project I am getting myself into as well as the extent of the water damage to the RV.  I feel good about the project even though it is more work than I was anticipating having to do on the RV before embarking on my journey but all is A-OK!

The acetone I picked up as a result of reading the information enclosed with the LiquidWood.  LiquidWood should be applied to a dry and clean surface so it can deeply penetrate the wood and thus seal it against further damage as well as give it more strength than it originally had.  The Acetone apparently speeds up the drying time of the wood and does not interfere with the application of LiquidWood.  I am extending my desires and prayers to the cosmos for a quiet week next week so I can skip off from work so I can go and work on the RV.  Monday will see me visiting and making a few purchases at Travco so I can begin to resurface the roof and joints with a waterproofing and joint and hole sealing product.  The caulking will provide a vapor and sound barrier and I intend to apply it between the inside and outside window frames.  The outside or exterior window frames will be removed and cleaned and then re-installed with a new application of putty and/or caulking to ensure a water tight seal.

Getting back to Saturday's project - I will remove the wall paneling on two sides of the bed over cab area so I can clean the wood behind it as well as to allow any water soaked wood to dry out before I apply the LiquidWood and as I mentioned in the previous paragraph I will turn my attention to the exterior of the RV next week.  I am breaking the work down into manageable pieces so I don't overwhelm myself with the amount of work involved to get this project done and so I can also do any necessary work that is required by my day job.
